The following is an excerpt I was asked to share on behalf of Brandon’s friends from “Rise of Empires.”

This weekend, the Rise of Empires gaming community lost a good friend. His family and friends outside of the game knew him as Brandon Hoard. Our alliance, “Your Pests” of State 11, knew him as “SWIM,” an energetic, playful guy with a great sense of humor.
SWIM was quick to make a joke and equally quick to defend others, if needed. He tested himself against other alliance members, constantly striving to improve in every aspect of the game.
SWIM was a fierce competitor on the battlefield, always ready to take on an enemy. Opponents respected his strength and sense of humor, and some eventually became friends and/or alliance members.
SWIM was passionate about his life outside of the game, too. He shared pictures and videos of fish he caught. He told stories and made us laugh.
